King Valley Day
Tour: Joining the
main Mansfield-Whitfield Road just before the small hamlet of Tolmie, you are treated to
spectacular views of the upper King Valley as you make your way towards Power's
Lookout (select park from list), a
lofty outcrop from which bushranger Harry Power surveyed his domain. From here you quickly
drop down into Whifield where you are presented with your first choice
of the day, to go upstream to Lake William Hovell and Paradise Falls
visiting the Pizzini, Chrismont & Dal Zotto wineries or head downstream,
visiting the many other King Valley wineries, towards Milawa..
The next choice is lunch. Rinaldo's at
Whitfield, The King River Cafe at Oxley and
the Brown Brother's Epicurian Centre at Milawa
all serve innovative meals and are very
busy, booking ahead is adviseable. Milawa also has a cheese factory and a mustard factory.
Return the same way or join the Hume freeway near Glenrowan and exit at Benalla. |
| King Valley and
beyond: Choose
some, or all, of the above as you head towards historic Beechworth, Yakandandah or the
Rutherglen wineries on the way to Albury and NSW. Alternatively join the Great Alpine Way
following the Ovens River to Bright crossing Mt Hotham continuing on to the Gippsland
Lakes. |
